Need this minkin's art and sources!

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 3, 2015, 2:59 PM
Hey guys, I got this minkin recently and unfortunately the previous owners didn't have their art sourced. I know they've been passed around a lot so some things got lost along the way.

Artz by celesse

I ran a quick search to try to find the artists and also came across more art of them I didn't have yet, so I'm looking both for sources on the art I do have and any art of it that I don't have.

Please feel free to comment or note if you have sources or art for this sparkle baby <3 Thank you!

DeviantArtist Questionnaire

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 7, 2015, 1:14 AM
1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?
Thirteen years! Since August 04, 2002

2. What does your username mean?
Celesse was the name my mother wanted to give me, but my parents settled on Samantha instead. I thought it would be an appropriate alias when I got online.

3. Describe yourself in three words.
Cheerful, playful, dorky

4. Are you left or right handed?
Left handed.

5. What was your first deviation?
Oh, lordy...
Hangin Around by celesse

6. What is your favourite type of art to create?
Anything cute.

7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Realism, because it would totally help me in my more stylized endeavors.

8. What was your first favourite?
Seems to be this:
Emiel Sketch by fallout161

9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
At the moment it seems to be a mix of cute things and rendered landscapes.

10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
There's too many amazing artists I can't pick one I'm sorry gosh

11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
I've already checked off a lot of must-meets thanks to conventions, but there are a few I haven't met yet. I'd have to choose AshleyCope because she's been an inspiration to me and seems like a pretty cool person.

12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Well, most of my BFFs I met off of DA. landlotl started off as just a fellow artist that I first found through DA and we knew each other casually for a long time, but we've become super good friends over the past year. I'm happy to have her in my life <3

13. What are your preferred tools to create art?
Definitely digital, almost any Wacom tablet + Paint Tool SAI. But I have a secret love for watercolors as well.

14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
Around other artists, because they never fail to inspire me in some way.

15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
It's dorky, but I remember back in 2005 DA asked the community to create pixel ornaments of themselves to put together on a giant image of Christmas trees. It was amazing to see all the different ornaments artists made and then when the project was finished I found mine on the top of one of the trees. I can't deny that I squeed and giggled over it, haha

Give Core a Chance

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 4, 2015, 8:22 PM
Well, like usual, DA has made a change and everybody is furious about it.

I'm pretty open to change, though I admit I was slightly put off by this at first. My main complaint is that this came with no warning, though I expect people would have reacted the same either way and this seemed like an attempt to, figuratively speaking, rip off the band-aid and get it over with.

I can't say I like the obnoxious orange color because it clashes in an otherwise harmonious design, nor do I like the term "core" because I feel it (unintentionally) conveys the wrong message. But really, think about it, was "premium" any better? It's still a label that elevates paying members.

But the title and the colors seem to take a back seat to a larger complaint - the price increase, which has been exaggerated to have doubled or even tripled. I was irritated by this at first as well, but the fact is that the prices haven't gone up that much. The original price of a yearly membership was $29.95 WITH a 50% discount applied. That means the real price was $59.99, $10 above what the "new" 12 month membership costs.

You could argue that since the discount was always applied that it never really cost $59.99, but look at it this way as well - I've been a paying member for over 10 years now and it has always cost $29.95. That's ten years without adjusting for inflation. Look at the difference 10 years made on these common items.

DeviantART is a business. They have a headquarters, massive servers, countless staff members and all the costs of running that business. If they don't make money, we don't have a website to utilize. Artists, above most, should know that a service has monetary value.

DeviantART accounts are free. There's no invite code or other required method for entry. You have unlimited image uploads and unlimited bandwidth. You get 2GB of, where you can store or hide things. You get free access to a prints service where you can earn money and it costs you nothing. You can even customize your page to an extent, which a lot of sites don't allow at all for free accounts. Not to mention the accessibility and large community that comes with just being on DA.

Yes, paid membership comes with better perks in the customizing department, which can help you sell yourself better, but free accounts are still completely usable. And if you use DA as a large source of your income, is it really that bad to pay a little extra to help support a service that helps you? Or rather, is the service they offer worth the money? Look at it objectively and imagine you never knew there was a price increase - would what you get from it still be worth the price tag?

If not, it's your prerogative to change to another website, one that better suits your needs and/or your budget. Or to simply be content with a free account without pretty things all over your front page.

I just feel that DA offers a pretty good service even for free accounts and all of the anger and hate is misplaced.

Minkin for Minkin (TRADED)

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 25, 2015, 2:46 PM
Crackle has been traded, thank you to everybody for your interest <3

It makes me sad to do this, but Crackle is the hardest for me to connect to. I still love her design to pieces, but I think at this point I would rather have another design/character I can have a closer emotional bond with.

I am only looking for other minkin.

I'll look at any kind, there are no restrictions. I will note that Crackle has a rare trait (tail) so I would prefer to get a rare trait in return, but it's not required if I really love the design. Otherwise you might have to sweeten the pot somehow.

She comes with several pieces of artwork and can be returned to her original tail design if desired.

Minkin - Crackle (Deceased) by celesse New Years Minkin [Closed] by SA1B0T

I am going to be so picky. If I don't find a design I am absolutely head over heels for I will be keeping her.

Please also give me some time to respond to any offers, I want to carefully consider each before accepting or declining.

You can comment here or note me if you prefer, either is fine.

(PS I really want this minkin so if there's any way you can get him I would trade Crackle for him)

Help the little shrimp!

My friend landlotl is auctioning an adopt to help a poor little shrimp. I feel a lot of sympathy for the itty bitty baby so time for a signal boost!

I keep forgetting to mention I have a Toyhouse account now (thanks YuriStorm!!)

I've tried hard to find any existing Toyhouse accounts for the artists of some of my characters' art, but if you're on there and I don't have you credited just let me know!

PS I have no invite codes at all, sorry. I'm just a lowly peon account.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty stoked about that new little star next to my name.

Just Some Notes

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 10, 2013, 3:21 PM
Um, this is a bit awkward, but I kind of had a little break down last night and deleted all of the notes in my inbox. A lot of them were unanswered.

I've been insanely busy lately and really stressed out, and 15+ pages of unanswered notes continuously building up just kind of overwhelmed me. The only thing I could think to do was make it go away.

I just want to apologize to anyone that was waiting on a response from me. If you would still like an answer, please send the note again, but please keep these things in mind:

- I am not available for commissions. I won't give prices for the future either.

- I do not take requests

- I cannot take on new projects now, such as illustrating your comic or designing logos

- I do not have time to answer interview questions for your school project (I'm sorry!)

- Please don't ask me how I get products made. Use Google. Research. That's what I do.

- Merchandise/store/order questions should be made through the website

- You may cosplay any of my characters (including Strays or GaMERCaT)

- You may draw fan art of them as well (and please link me to them!)

- You may get tattoos of my art (this one still surprises me!)

I think that covers most of the questions I get via notes. If you still need an answer for something go ahead and send me a new note.

Strays, GaMERCaT Back Up

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 26, 2013, 2:17 AM
Good news, Strays and GaMERCaT are back up! If they still aren't working for you, please clear your cache and try again.

If that doesn't work, please give it a day or two. It may take a while for the changes to propagate across the internet.

Original Post 1/26/13---

Just FYI, the Strays and GaMERCaT websites are down at the moment. Our host disabled them because they were using too much CPU and destabilizing the shared server. The downside of using Wordpress to automate everything, I suppose.

I'm working on getting back my access to them so I can try to reduce the usage, but customer support is being really slow to respond. The sites will hopefully be back up and running very soon.

In the mean time you can view this week's Strays update over at the Facebook page -

Am I the only one that actually likes the new thumbnails? ^^; I used to miss a lot of great art because the thumbnail didn't appear interesting, but with the larger thumbs I can see the content a lot easier. I also love that it crops exceptionally tall/wide images to fit into a decent thumbnail instead of a 1 pixel tall/wide one.

And the alignment system is great. People keep saying it looks cluttered, but I think it's a clean look that uses the space more efficiently. The only issue I have is the lighter border/background that appears on odd sized images or transparent gifs/pngs. I think a better solution could be found for that, but I can't offer a suggestion at the moment.

I think people just need a chance to adjust to it. They sure do hate change.

Also I missed my dA anniversary again, dang it! I always think it's in April for some reason. I can't believe I've been on this site for 10 years! Wow!

Short Story From Long Ago

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 1, 2012, 2:39 AM
Looking for a little help, here. My Mom is asking about a short story she read when she was a kid and I'm not having much luck finding it on my own. If anybody recognizes it or is able to somehow find it that would be really awesome.

She believes it was published in either Creepy or Erie Magazine. She doesn't remember the name or author, but here is the gist of the story:

There were these two beings on a distant world. There was also a big white bird.  One was a man, one a statue. The man always said that he would leave one day on that big white bird.  One night, while the man slept, the bird flew away. He ran to where the bird was, and the statue told him that in the night, the bird, Hope, flew away. The ending is, there is a world very far away, and on it there are two beings. Neither has moved for many centuries. One stands because he is made of stone - the other kneels because he is not.

Can anybody help?

Birthday Thanks
