There were these two beings on a distant world. There was also a big white bird. One was a man, one a statue. The man always said that he would leave one day on that big white bird. One night, while the man slept, the bird flew away. He ran to where the bird was, and the statue told him that in the night, the bird, Hope, flew away. The ending is, there is a world very far away, and on it there are two beings. Neither has moved for many centuries. One stands because he is made of stone - the other kneels because he is not.
