Fable revisitee by *gueuzav
This image is one of my favorites by *gueuzav. From the adorable characters and the bold coloring to the fantastical designs and the silly ideas employed, it really is a throwback to storybook characters you might see in old children's books. I just adore how 3-D the image looks. The characters really pop out at you.

Cupcake-chan on Miami Ink

Journal Entry: Thu May 15, 2008, 9:33 PM

Yes, it's true. Several of you guys have already noticed, but on tonight's episode of Miami Ink a girl got a tattoo of my Cupcake-chan on her leg.

They asked for permission several months ago and promised to let me know when it would air (but never did), so I wasn't able to give advance notice. Sorry guys! But it's in the first half of the episode called "House Hunting" so you can watch for it now (or download it if you can).

It was pretty awesome, but I kinda wish they had at least given me a name drop or something ^^; Instead of the girl saying it was her cupcake girl and then saying the tattoo looked better than the original (which kinda hurt my pride, but eh, it's a matter of personal opinion as always). For all I know there's some legalese reason for not being able to mention names or something so that could be why they didn't. I asked if they could give me props in the credits of the show but I couldn't tell if they did or not.

Oh well! It's still pretty cool! The guy did a good job of making it into a tattoo and it's pretty awesome my art was featured on national TV :giggle:

General update + anime cons

Sooo I promised an update quite a while ago and I've finally got some time to do it. Things have been going pretty well for me. I've finally landed a great, steady freelance job that pays well enough to keep the bills under control as well as allow me some nice spending money, and the best thing about it is that I really enjoy it. It's a great job and I hope I can keep it for a long time to come.

I've been getting a few commission inquiries now and then, but unfortunately due to the reasons above plus my obligations to our webcomic Strays I am probably not going to be taking any new ones any time soon. Sorry guys! I'm hoping now that my bills are covered I can start focusing on my own artwork again. I'm really missing some of my characters like Frog and Arcy and others, plus I'd like to continue with my Sweets girls... not to mention indulge in some fan art that I just haven't had time for the past few years. I need to pick up on my 100 themes challenge too. So much to catch up on!

UPDATE: Well we managed to score a table at Otakon :D Some kind soul is sharing her table with us, so we'll be there! We're also definitely going to be at Anime Weekend Atlanta (our table has been confirmed), and we're going to try very hard to get a table at Nekocon too. Hope to see you there!

The "Orphan Works" Panic - Updated

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 12, 2008, 9:02 PM
  • Mood: Confused
Since my "Theft really sucks" journal has been up I've gotten several panicked and enraged comments and notes about some "Orphan Works" bill that they're trying to pass.

At first my reaction was to be angry and panic as well, but I did some quick research and I've discovered that it's apparently a bill that comes up every few years and is always voted down. I've also discovered that the popular article about it that is being passed around is a gross misinterpretation of the actual bill and is only serving to cause undue riots.

Petition just incase: [link]

Now, I'm not saying that I believe this bill is beneficial at all to artists and should be passed, but I would like for everybody to put down their torches and pitchforks and calm down. Remember, calm heads prevail.

Since there is always the posibility that it could be passed, it is up to us artists to make sure that doesn't happen. And not by cursing and crying and shouting and stirring up riots on the internet. Take reasonable action. There is an online petition you can sign here - [link] or, something that is likely to be more effective, you can contact your state representative for more information about the bill and what to do to stop it from passing, which is something I'm probably going to be doing.

Edit: Okay, so according to the newest link ( [link] ) this bill doesn't even exist right now? It apparently came up in 2006 but was voted out and has never resurfaced. And it's not meant to take away the rights to our art. As long as you always put your name or some watermark on the images you post and maintain your name online (through a website or DA account or whatever) even if this bill is passed nobody who misuses your art under the name of this bill can claim they put forth an honest effort to find you and couldn't.

Theft really sucks - Updated

Okay, thank you for all of your help. The person with the blog has agreed to remove the images soon, so that's taken care of. Thank you to those who contacted them nicely.. and those of you that were somewhat abrasive, just so you know it's better to be nice first ^^; If they respond negatively or don't respond at all then you can get mean if it's the only way to get through to them.

As for this other person, it is in Italian and she apparently has used many, many images from several artists here on DA. I think this one should still be pursued.

Thank you!

While we're on the subject I'd also like to express my severe loathing for IMVU. They let any Joe Blow put up for sale any image they can find on the net and then make it nearly impossible to get it removed by the owner =__= And they ignore the reports anyway. I've never gotten them to take down any stolen art I've found and reported. They should seriously be shut down.

Wai! DD! & Pimping

Eeee I got another DD! ^__^

It's an old one so I pretty much only see everything wrong with it now, but I'm really glad that others can still see it as something worth looking at :) Thank you =savagebinn for suggesting it and ^skifi for featuring it!

Man it's been forever since I've done any furry art. I should fix that.

Annnnd while I'm making a journal post I'd also like to throw a shout-out to my good friend ~Eevee445!

:iconeevee445:

She's making her own Naruto doujinshi right now and I know for a fact there are plenty of Narutards out there, so why not swing on by and check it out? I'm sure she would appreciate the views :)
